Morroco Hiking Trip 2026
Join Destination Hike® for an exceptional 9-day, 8-night enchanting adventure across Morocco. This trip will allow you to experience Moroccan culture and dramatic diverse landscapes. Our journey begins in Casablanca, the country's modern economic hub. Here, you will marvel at the architectural wonder of the Hassan II Mosque, spectacularly built partially over the Atlantic Ocean, a monumental start to the trip. From the coast, we travel to the unique, high-altitude town of Ifrane. Known as "Little Switzerland," this charming destination surprises with its European-style chalets and cool climate, nestled amidst pristine cedar forests in the Middle Atlas Mountains. The adventure then leads to the stunning tranquility of the Erg Chebbi dunes. This iconic part of the trip in the Saharan landscape offers an experience of a Berber dinner under the stars while staying at a luxury desert camp with a clear view of the canopy of stars. You will also be able to experience hiking through the heights of the High Atlas and Mount Toubkal. Our journey through one of Africa's high peaks offers challenging and rewarding trek through vibrant Berber villages. Lastly, we will spend time in the captivating "Red City" of Marrakech. This vibrant cultural capital draws you in with its ancient history—from the serene Majorelle Garden and opulent Bahia Palace—to the chaotic energy of the medina souks.

Cassablanca
Discover Casablanca, where the dynamism of Morocco’s modern heart meets timeless culture. For a first-time visitor, the city is an exciting blend of the old and the new. Stroll the palm-lined boulevards with their impressive Art Deco architecture, or dive into the bustling aromas and vibrant stalls of the Old Medina. Feel the refreshing Atlantic breeze as you walk along the scenic Corniche promenade.
The highlight of your journey will be the magnificent Hassan II Mosque. Extending majestically over the ocean, this architectural marvel offers a profound cultural experience as you explore its massive, exquisitely detailed interior with its intricate cedarwood and mosaic artistry. Experience the unique energy of Casablanca—a city of grand sights and captivating encounters.
Ifrane National Park
The Ifrane Mountains, located in the Middle Atlas range of Morocco, are a stunning natural escape that earned the nickname the "Switzerland of Morocco." This comparison comes from the region's unexpected features: a cooler, often snowy climate, picturesque alpine-style architecture in the town of Ifrane, and lush, mountainous landscapes. The area is protected as Ifrane National Park, which is famous for its vast Atlas cedar forests and a high-altitude ecosystem that provides a vital habitat for the endangered Barbary macaque. It’s a perfect destination for outdoor activities like hiking and a surprising glimpse of a different side of Moroccan nature.
Erg Chebbi
Erg Chebbi is Morocco's most iconic and dramatic sea of sand dunes (erg), located on the edge of the vast Sahara Desert near the town of Merzouga.
These majestic, golden-orange dunes tower up to 150 meters high, offering a quintessential desert experience. During our trip, we will be experiencing the breathtaking color changes at sunrise and sunset, spending a night in a traditional Berber desert camp where we will experience dinner and Berber music under a blanket of stars. You will witness an unforgettable blend of natural wonder and authentic Moroccan desert culture.
Mt. Toukbal
Toubkal National Park, located in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, is a spectacular natural area and a prime destination for trekking and culture. The ascent to the summit of Mount Toubkal is a popular and achievable challenge for many hikers. We will spend two to days with the aid of a local, licensed guides and porters to summit to the very top of this mountain. Many people from all over the world have successfully summited this mountain.
At the summit we will see breathtaking panoramic views across the Atlas Mountains as we complete this amazing group experience and your own great personal achievement. Outside of the trail we will be completing, Mt. Toukbal National Park offers numerous trails, a glimpse into the resilient local Berber culture, and diverse flora and fauna.
Marrakech
Marrakech, the vibrant "Red City" of Morocco, is a sensory feast blending ancient history with lively culture. The city's highlights include the serene, artistically designed Majorelle Garden, which we will visit, which is famed for its striking cobalt blue architecture and exotic flora, and the iconic, towering minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque, a spiritual landmark visible across the city.
We also will explore the intricate craftsmanship of the richly decorated Saadian Tombs, a hidden royal necropolis, and marvel at the stunning zellige tilework and carved cedar ceilings of the opulent 19th-century Bahia Palace. The true heart of Marrakech is found by wandering the labyrinthine alleyways of the old walled city (medina), where the bustling souks offer a vibrant maze of stalls selling everything from spices and textiles to leather and metalwork.
Our day of exploration culminates at the dynamic Jemaa el-Fna square, a UNESCO World Heritage site that transforms at dusk into a lively spectacle of storytellers, street performers, musicians, and food stalls.
