About The Event
Fall hiking is unbeatable, but cooler temperatures, leaf-covered trails, and shorter days require extra preparation! Here is how to get ready:
Footwear: Sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes with strong traction are strongly encouraged to handle damp, muddy, or leaf-covered trails. If you don't own hiking shoes, wear supportive tennis shoes with deep tread.
Apparel: Dress in breathable layers (such as a light jacket or fleece over a moisture-wicking shirt) so you can adjust as you warm up. Avoid cotton, and bring a rain shell or windbreaker just in case.
Hydration (Crucial): Bring at least 1.5 to 2 liters of water. Cooler fall temperatures can mask dehydration, so remember to sip regularly throughout the hike!
Backpack: Use a small-to-medium backpack to carry your water, extra layers, snacks, phone, and a small headlamp or flashlight in case daylight fades faster than expected.
