Enjoy a nice sunset on the water and experience the natural beauty of the Occoquan Reservoir! A fun and memorable outdoor adventure while highlighting natural and historical features unique to the area. This program will be led by NOVA Parks Roving Naturalist, Matt Felperin. We will begin with a brief paddling instruction overview before heading out. Previous kayak experience suggested, but not required.

Be sure to bring plenty of water and appropriate clothing; quick dry material is recommended along with close-toed sandals. Your feet will get wet to get in the boat. Dry bags are recommended for personal items. Program includes experienced guide, kayak rental, paddle, and PFD.

Waiver: In consideration of my (and/or my child's) participation in this activity, I hereby release and discharge the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority, and its representatives, successors, and assigns, from any and all liability arising from accident, injury, and illness that I (he/she) may suffer as a result of my (our) participation in this activity. I (we) also will follow the rules and regulations set by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority and above named parties. Parent or guardian must sign for anyone age 18 and under. I do hereby grant and give these groups the right to use my or my child(s) photograph or image with or without my or my child's name, both singly and in conjunction with other persons or objects and presentations, advertising, publicity, and promotion relating thereto.


As with any exercise it is not advisable to eat a heavy meal just prior to attending your paddle tour. Canoeing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding involves constant movement. Instructor(s) will lead warm-up activities at the beginning of the event to engage the body for the activity; this may be conducted on the water pending the activity.


All participants must bring a water bottle.

Sun protection (if applicable) such as sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and lightweight, long sleeve shirt.

Appropriate water clothing - fibers like nylon, silk, synthetic and wool retain insulation properties even when they are wet and therefore, keep the body warmer.

Recommended footwear can be water shoes, strapped sandals, or any comfortable shoe that can get wet.

Change of clothes, shoes and towel for after the tour can be left in the car.


Any items you do not want to get wet or loose items that may become disengaged while in the water. (cell phone, cameras, etc.)

Glasses should be secured with an eyewear retainer.
