This spectacular weekend is one you won't soon forget. Try something new with Destination Hikers. Do not delay in registering. Campsites for this location during this time of the moon phase have been booked for months! We will travel to Cherry Springs, a declared International Dark Sky Park by the Department of Conservation for Natural Resources. International Dark Sky Parks

An IDA International Dark Sky Park (IDSP) is a land possessing an exceptional or distinguished quality of starry nights and a nocturnal environment that is specifically protected for its scientific, natural, educational, cultural heritage, and/or public enjoyment (darksky.org).

During the day we will explore the local state park hiking trails, and at night we will gaze at the sky and observe the stars through a clear dark sky. Per Cherry Springs State Park Rangers, the Milky Way should be visible during this weekend as well. Binoculars or other enhanced visual aids are encouraged but not required.

Requirements for Registration:

State Parks only allow 2 tent units per site. Therefore when registering you must come as a group of 2 or group of 3 people. Each individual will register and pay separately, but note who they are staying with in their tent unit.

You must register for the whole weekend you cannot register for just one day.

What you will need to bring

Tent:

For 2 people, no larger than a 4 person tent

For 3 people no larger than a 6 person tent

Sleeping bag

Sleeping Mat (Optional)

Binoculars (Optional)

Food for the weekend - There is no refrigeration. Dehydrated food or food that doesn't need to be kept cold is best.

Hiking Backpack

Hiking Shoes

Firewood for your campsite fire ring- Bring what you deem is necessary and how long you want to keep your fire going.

Money to go to the bathouse. Bathouse is not located on site but rather a 5 minute drive at the next local park. They charge $4 per bathouse use.

  • Solo Camper Waitlist

    This is for those who are coming solo. This is a waitlist option as priority goes to campers coming in pairs due to tent space availability. You will be notified once a space is available. Cost $155/person.

  • Double/ Pair Campers

    This ticket is for those who are coming as a pair. Each person will need to purchase their own ticket, but you will be camping with the person you indicate. Both people cannot be in a tent larger than a 4 person tent.

    This ticket is for those who are coming as a group of three. Each participant will register for their own space, but will need to identify in the registration who else is occupying the tent. The three occupying tent cannot have larger than a 6 person tent.
