Are you ready to reconnect with nature and immerse yourself in a truly unforgettable journey? Destination Hike ® is headed to Europe for another unforgettable travel hiking journey. This time we are exploring the expansive mountain ranges of Spain. Our journey starts in Barcelona, the Capital of the Catalonia Region of Spain. We'll spend our first few days exploring the heart of the city, with a guided tour of its world-renowned architecture and rich history. Once we finish exploring the center of Barcelonian culture, the hiking will be an experience to remember! First, we will hike in Garrotxa National Park, a volcanic park learning about the 40 volcanic cones and 20 lava flows. Then we will spend the next three days doing 4-hour day hikes and lunch in the Andorra's Mountains, French Pyrenees Mountains, and the Spanish Pyrenees Mountains. This travel trip is one that perfectly blends the perfect combination of culture, education, and hiking. Garrotxa National Park
At Garrotxa National Park you will explore the volcanic heart of Catalonia at La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone. You will hike through lush beech forests that overlie ancient lava flows, and stand atop the cones of dormant volcanoes like Santa Margarida, where a hermitage chapel rests in the crater. This protected park offers a rich tapestry of geological wonders and vibrant flora, with over 40 volcanic cones and 20 lava flows to discover. Whether you're an avid hiker or a nature lover seeking a tranquil escape, Garrotxa provides a captivating journey through Spain's powerful and beautiful past. Uncover the unique charm of this spectacular natural area and experience a world shaped by fire and time.
Andorra Mountains
Hiking in the Pyreneese Mountain Range of the Sovereign landlocked nation of Andorrra, you will discover a world-class network of trails that lead you through spectacular glacial valleys, past more than 80 pristine mountain lakes, and to breathtaking summits with views that stretch into France and Spain. Every step you take on this hike is a journey through nature and history, as ancient Romanesque churches and charming stone villages are seamlessly woven into the rugged landscape.
French & Spanish Pyrenees Mountains
The French and Spanish Pyrenees form a majestic natural border, a diverse and dramatic landscape of towering peaks, lush valleys, and serene glacial lakes. On the French side, you find a greener, more verdant expanse, with deep, steep valleys, powerful waterfalls, and an untamed, wild atmosphere that is often described as feeling more remote than the Alps. The Spanish side, by contrast, is known for its sunnier and drier climate, offering a landscape of rugged canyons and striking gorges that evoke a feeling of being in a completely different, almost American Southwest-like terrain. The entire range, however, is a paradise for hikers and adventurers.
